Frequently Asked Questions
We understand there can be some confusion when it comes to multiple stage and format based tournaments so we have come up with a list of Q&As below that will hopefully give you a better understanding of the Tournament process.
If you have any questions regarding the format, we have a complete breakdown of the tournament and its stages here.
Where do I sign up?
You can register to play on the Universal Open Organizer Page on the FACEIT platform.
Note: Both players on the team must sign up on Faceit.com in order to compete. If you are not currently a member, sign up here and download the platform now!
How old do I have to be to compete?
To enter the tournament, Players (NA and EU) must be AT LEAST 13 years old. Players that are under the age of majority in their respective state/province/country, MUST provide written consent from their parent/guardian. There will be NO EXCEPTIONS. Any players found to be breaking this rule will be immediately disqualified.
How much will it cost to participate?
Nothing! There is no entry fee for this tournament, though players must own Rocket League to participate and be able to fund their own trip to their Regional Finals should they qualify.
Can I still enter if I do not have a partner?
Absolutely! If you do not have a partner, you will be matched with another single player upon Tournament check-in. You can also use our team finder tool to help you find a partner beforehand. Click here for more details!
Do we need a team name?
Yes! We encourage creativity but please be sure that your name is not offensive to anyone.
Can teams have substitutes?
We currently do not allow substitutes until after the Closed Qualifiers as stated in the Rules and it must be due to extenuating circumstances. Proof will be requested and FACEIT reserves the right to decline requests.
What are the stages I need to go through to get to the Grand Finals?
- North America: Open Qualifier Closed Qualifier Regional Finals Grand Finals
- Europe: Open Qualifier Closed Qualifier Grand Finals
Can I sign up for multiple Open Qualifiers?
Players are open to sign up for all other Open Qualifiers but they must STAY WITHIN THEIR REGION - NA players can only sign up for NA qualifiers and EU players can only sign up for EU qualifiers. While players can sign up for other open qualifiers, we ask that you wait to be eliminated from a qualifier before signing up for a new one. We do also encourage teams to stay within their region since they will be responsible for their own expenses should they qualify for Regional Finals.
Where will the Regional Qualifiers take place?
The Regional Finals for each region will take place at the following locations:
- East Finals: Washington, D.C.
- Northeast Finals: New York, NY
- Central Finals: Chicago, IL
- West Finals: San Francisco, CA
Will Universal Open pay or reimburse me for travel to the Regionals? Grand Finals?
All expenses for Regional Finals will be out-of-pocket. Travel and lodging for the Grand Finals for the 8 qualifying teams will be covered by Universal Open.
Where I can find the rules for Universal Open Rocket League?
Rules for the tournament can be found here.
Will I be able to attend the Regional Finals and Grand Finals?
Unfortunately, the studios for the Regional Finals and Grand Finals will not be equipped for an audience. Competitors can, however, have a friend or family member accompany them to the competition.
